Our approach
Listening first. Advising second.
You don’t need to arrive with answers, or with any idea of what you’re supposed to ask for. Here is exactly how the work goes.
The process
Six stages, in order
A conversation
Around an hour, at your home or by video, with no charge and no obligation. You talk, we listen. By the end of it you will know whether we are the right fit — and we will know whether we can genuinely help.
No cost
The Northern Legacy Review
We work through the seven areas that between them describe everything a plan has to account for: family, assets, wishes, vulnerabilities, tax, capacity and legacy. This is where the real work happens.
The flagship
Recommendations, in writing
A clear written summary of what we found, what we suggest, what it will cost and what happens if you do nothing. You take it away and think about it. We do not ask for a decision in the room.
Fixed fees
Drafting and review
We prepare your documents and go through them with you line by line. Nothing gets signed until you can explain in your own words what each part does and why it is there.
Plain English
Signing, registration and storage
We supervise execution so the formalities are right, register Lasting Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian, and make sure your documents are stored somewhere they can be found.
Handled for you
Annual review
Families change and so does the law. We check in each year to confirm your plan still does what you intended, and flag anything that needs revisiting.

The Northern
Legacy Review™
Seven questions, worked through in order, that between them describe everything a plan has to account for. It is where every engagement starts — and the reason our advice fits your family rather than a template.
Family
Who needs protecting?
Assets
What do you own?
Wishes
What should happen?
Vulnerabilities
Who needs more care?
Tax
Is there an exposure?
Capacity
Who can act for you?
Legacy
What will you leave?
How we work
Four things you can hold us to
- We will tell you if you don’t need something
- Trusts are not right for every family, and a plan that is more complicated than it needs to be is a plan that costs more and goes wrong more often.
- We quote before we start
- You will know the cost of the work in writing before any of it is done. No hourly billing, no surprises.
- We won’t sell you a scheme
- If a strategy depends on HMRC or a local authority not looking closely at it, we will not recommend it — and we will explain why.
- We work with your other advisers
- Accountants, financial advisers and solicitors often hold part of the picture. We would rather bring them in than plan around a gap.
Start the conversation
Planning for tomorrow starts today.
You don’t need to have all the answers. That’s what we’re here for. Let’s start with a conversation about your family, your assets and what matters most to you.
