About
Planning for the
people you love.
I’m Alan Mountford-Brown, founder of The Northern Legacy Co. and a Legacy Planning Specialist.

A portrait of Alan will replace this image once the brand photography is shot.
I help individuals and families put the right plans in place to protect the people they love, preserve their assets and prepare for the future.
My work covers Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax Planning. But for me, legacy planning has always been about much more than paperwork.
It’s about people.
I don’t believe estate planning should be complicated or intimidating. I believe in listening first, explaining clearly, and creating a plan around your individual circumstances. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution to protecting a family — yours deserves a plan created specifically for you.
Why this work matters to me
These aren’t theoretical questions.
I have personal experience of having a vulnerable loved one within my own family. That experience has given me an understanding that goes beyond professional knowledge — the questions, the uncertainty, and the need to think carefully about what happens in the future.
- What happens if I’m no longer here?
- Who will look after them?
- Who will make decisions?
- Will their inheritance be protected?
- Could an inheritance affect the support they’re entitled to?
For many families, they’re incredibly personal. That’s why helping families with vulnerable beneficiaries has become such an important part of my work.

Let’s talk
Start with a conversation.
No obligation, no jargon, and no assumption that you already know what you need. Just a conversation about your family and what matters to you.
